GPI Holding has reimbursed Georgian businesses with 6 million GEL for losses caused by severe weather in western Georgia. In total, 79 business companies received insurance payouts from GPI Holding.
Exceptionally heavy snowfall in western regions caused unprecedented material and financial damage to both large enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses. Roofs of commercial buildings collapsed, machinery and equipment were destroyed, and goods stored in warehouses were severely damaged. Businesses whose property was insured with GPI Holding received compensation amounting to tens and, in some cases, hundreds of thousands of lari.
According to GPI Holding, the scale of damage was significant across all business sizes. Without insurance coverage, many affected companies would have been unable to continue operations.
Dimitri Dzirtkbilashvili, Chief Operating Officer of GPI Holding, stated: “Compensating Georgian businesses with 6 million GEL is something we are truly proud of. This is a historic and highly significant milestone for Georgia’s insurance sector, particularly in terms of improving trust. This case once again clearly demonstrated that property insurance is a critical instrument for the sustainable operation of any business. Risk protection is essential for large companies as well as for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Despite suffering substantial damage, our insured clients were able to continue operating without interruption because insurance covered the financial burden. They did not need to seek additional funds to restore damaged or destroyed assets. These businesses received millions of lari in compensreimbursement under policies for which they pay relatively modest monthly premiums.
We want this example to serve as a message to other businesses. Unfortunately, property and business insurance remains underutilized in Georgia, even though business without risk does not exist. Insurance is the most reliable and effective guarantee against financial risk. No matter what happens, you know the damage will be reimbursed, allowing you to continue operations with confidence.”
Property insurance is one of GPI Holding’s strategically important business lines. The company is a leading player in Georgia’s property insurance market and brings many years of experience in this field. GPI Holding offers a wide range of insurance products developed in cooperation with European partners. These policies are fully tailored to the operational needs of Georgian businesses and cover key financial risks that may arise at different stages of business activity.
GPI Holding’s property insurance policies enable coverage for buildings and structures, inventory and stock, business interruption, third-party liability, and other relevant risks. The products are designed to be affordable, with pricing calculated individually based on the size, profile, and specific needs of each business.
By providing timely and substantial compensation, GPI Holding once again underscored the essential role of insurance in protecting businesses and ensuring economic resilience in the face of unexpected risks.
