  • GPI Holding and the Georgian Land Transport Association Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

Batumi, March 7, 2025GPI Holding, in partnership with the Georgian Land Transport Association, held a conference in Batumi titled “The Future of the Transport Industry: New Opportunities and Regulations for Carriers.” The event brought together representatives of transport and logistics companies, who engaged in open discussions with industry experts on current challenges and potential solutions within the sector.

The conference focused on key developments in the transport industry, including new regulations, legislative changes, and emerging opportunities for carriers. Speakers provided in-depth insights into the major challenges facing the industry and discussed practical approaches to addressing them. One of the central topics was insurance as an essential tool for reducing financial risks for transport companies.

Konstantine Manjgaldze, Deputy Director of Market Development at GPI Holding, stated:

“Cooperation with members of the Georgian Land Transport Association is extremely important for us. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to engage directly with carriers and introduce our company and insurance products to them.

Through this memorandum, we are offering association member carriers insurance on unique terms, along with a range of additional benefits provided in cooperation with our partner companies. Insurance is the only effective mechanism that protects transport companies from significant financial losses.

A key topic of our discussion was carrier liability insurance, which remains one of the most critical issues hindering the sector today. In order for cargo to be fully insured — alongside cargo and container insurance — it is essential that the carrier’s liability is also insured. This type of coverage also helps carriers attract clients, as large companies prioritize working with transport providers that manage operational risks responsibly and can offer full financial guarantees. We are fully prepared to support association member carriers and provide them with the best insurance conditions.”

Irakli Nemsadze, President of the Georgian Land Transport Association, commented:

“This was a very interesting and beneficial meeting for carriers. Through such events, we aim to increase insurance awareness within transport companies so that, at a minimum, most carriers hold carrier liability insurance. This allows them to offer risk-protected services to their clients, secure higher-value contracts, and improve their financial stability. During the meeting, we addressed a number of important topics for the industry, including new regulations in the transport sector and the daily challenges carriers face.”

At the end of the event, GPI Holding and the Georgian Land Transport Association signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Under the agreement, association member transport companies will be able to benefit from preferential insurance terms and additional benefits offered by GPI Holding and its partner companies.

This marks the third transport industry conference organized by GPI Holding. The company once again reaffirms its commitment to supporting the sustainable development of Georgia’s transport sector at both the local and international levels.
